Second Breath

At fifty-three, Ray finally gets the retirement he spent years dreaming about.
He hates it.
Divorced, disconnected from his children, and waking each morning with nowhere to be, Ray remembers an old coworker named Tom who did what Ray never had the courage to do—left America behind and started over in Thailand.
So Ray sends him a message.
Two weeks later, he's on a plane.
But when Ray arrives, he discovers Tom died years ago. The person who invited him halfway around the world was Tom's widow, Daisy, who still remembered the stories her husband told about his old friend.
What begins as a temporary place to stay slowly becomes something Ray thought he'd lost: a family. Daisy gives him a home, her young son Tommy starts calling him Uncle Ray, and for the first time since retiring, Ray wakes up knowing somebody needs him.
Then another man enters their lives.
Six months later, Daisy appears at Ray's door in the pouring rain with Tommy, two suitcases, and nowhere else to go.
