The alarm is off and the calendar is yours. Now comes the fun part: deciding what to do with it.
Your neighbor says gardening. Your friend says wine cruises. Meanwhile, you're standing in the kitchen with a whole open week and a small voice asking "now what?"
This guide answers it the way a funny friend who has done her homework would: a real guide to money, health, friends, travel and tech, plus 100 ideas for the days that need one, and stories you'll recognize. It's the book you read with your coffee, not a workbook.
The stories are about women like Eleanor, six months retired, who walked in wearing silk pajamas and announced she couldn't remember the last time she'd put on real pants. You'll see yourself in a few of them.
Here's what you'll find inside:
• A routine that fits you: yes days, a maybe list and a no-guilt hour, so your week has a shape without a schedule.
• Money without the migraine: a monthly money date, a spending plan split into essentials, enjoyment and security, when to claim your pension or Social Security, and four common pitfalls to check for.
• Your body, your way: small changes that stick for eating well and moving more, plus seven ways to speak up for yourself at the doctor's office.
• Friends for this chapter: a joy brunch once a month, how to build a circle when the work crowd scatters, and giving back through volunteering and mentoring on your own terms.
• Travel in three layers: fresh eyes on your own town, a weekend's drive away, and shoulder-season savings on the trip you've dreamed about.
• If you live on your own: a chapter on making a solo life work, from friends with spare keys to a home set up exactly your way.
• 100 fun things to try: a try-it club, glamping, line dancing, a solo mountain retreat, juggling (start with oranges), and chess like a Bond villain.
• 100 affirmations and 40+ quotes: a chapter to open on the days the to-do list feels longer than the coffee is strong.
It also makes a warm, funny retirement gift for a sister, a friend, a mom, or the colleague who has earned a proper send-off.
